It is used for various purposes: Some Courses have their own pages where you can find schedules and materials. Please note that even for those courses you are still requested to sign up on Stud.IP. The Forschungskolloquium has its own page here as well. There are Materials on a wide variety of primary and secondary texts. You can present and discuss your Projects such as research papers.
