This workshop should introduce the following aspects of academic study:

Presentation skills
Orientation week, Winterterm:


Academic research (databases, library resources)
1 four hour workshop, introducing aspects of academic study skills.

*Academic writing skills
*Presentation skills (Visuals: Power Point, Wiki, transparencies on OHP, poster design, how to set up a computer and projector, etc)
*Presentation skills (use of language, body language, etc)
*Bibliographic records
*Creating handouts
*Creating additional materials for a presentation
*Creating a term paper (coming up with a research question, knowing your way around MSWord)
*Getting to know your section of the library (Bibliotheksschnitzeljagd als Herausforderung und nicht als Kinderkram)


Academic writing skills
 
All, or some of the aspects could/should appear as two or three hour tutorials over the course of the semester, taught by students, under supervision of experts from staff.
