The English Rogue and the German Simplicissimus

Richard Head's satyrical romance The English Rogue (1665-80) was one of the few english fictional titles to be translated into German before Daniel DeFoe's Robinson Crusoe (1719). The German translator changed the title to Simplicianischer Jan Perus (1672) - which brought the book into one context with the famous Abentheurlicher Simplicius Simplicissimus (1666-68) by Hans Jakob Christoffel von Grimmelshausen.

An interdisciplinary seminar - German and English - might compare both texts.
