Media realities, media identities; the Vietnam War as the first "living-room" war; creating political identities in/on Anglo-American film and TV landscapes; globally circulating media; media culture as national culture? Trans-cultural media studies; globalization and media: world widely circulating media; The Internet; or medial globalization; cultural imperialism; public viewings; Media and gender: Reproduction of gender (and other) stereotypes via media; gendered ways of consuming/using/producing media. Cultural constructions of difference(s); production of meaning; examples: the rise of talk shows, soap operas (from vaudeville to today), sitcoms (e.g. The Nanny and questions of ethnicity and last week I watched an episode where homo/heterosexuality and religion were quite important) and reality-TV shows - TVsites of (cultural) 'education';

Not sure where to put it: Sports as cultural practice, also spectatorship/fandom in sports (also music), athletes as cultural icons? (David Beckham)
