Questions from today's session (25th June 2007)

Qu. 1: narrative mode is "Erzählweise"

Qu. 3: The term 'discuss' should be understood in the way of the style of our whole introductory course. Be creative - you'll find something! :)

Qu. 4: briefly is meant as briefly: no more than half a page. A third should do!

All the best for you assignment! :) John Alistair Kühne 16:13, 25 June 2007 (CEST)

History

Session six: 18th June

Today we'll talk about narratology and the tools you'll need to learn. More or less the first page of the handout!

Greetings, John Alistair Kühne 13:34, 17 June 2007 (CEST)

Interruptions - relevant for Hamlet courses

I asked AK about interruptions mentioned in question one, Hamlet assignment: interruptions occur when a character cannot finish his sentences - usually can be seen by "char 1: blabla.... char 2: I want to say something now!"

This may hint at certain character traits or momentary emotional feelings like emotional pressure or impoliteness. If there are no interruptions, one may mention that in a half sentence (this shows that you, as a student, have understood the question, searched for interruptions, found none and report upon your findings or better non-findings ;) ). Hope, I could be of any help! John Alistair Kühne 10:13, 4 June 2007 (CEST)

Session four: 4th June

Today we concentrated on your 2nd assignment, talked about dramatic characterisation more closely and analysed a few scenes from our plays. Thank you for your participation!

Session three: 21st May

We talked about dramatic communication this session. I gave some input and then we talked about Richard's soliloquy at the beginning of his play. We also had a quick look on the techniques of characterisation taken from Mister Pfister! ;) Thanks for coming today! Best wishes, John Alistair Kühne 15:48, 21 May 2007 (CEST)

Session two: 14th May

We briefly talked about the assignment and clarified some problems with metaphors and stylistic devices. Sadly enough I did not get any feedback on my discussion page. --John Alistair Kühne 21:23, 15 May 2007 (CEST)

(Anouncement: As probably half of you still have to hand in the assignment on Tuesday, I've planned to do an additional session on the assignment - as long as you would like to do this - that would be okay with me. Please give me some input on my discussion page what you think should be dealt with on Monday. Please bring your reader with the 13 poems with you, so we'll have enough material to work with!

See you then, regards --John Alistair Kühne 09:38, 10 May 2007 (CEST))

Session one: 7th May

Today we talked about your first assignment and its five tasks. By taking closer looks at Rossetti's and Shakespeare's Sonnets, we clarified some misunderstandings and hopefully prepared you for your forthcoming task.
Hopefully I will see you all again next week! See you then, --John Alistair Kühne 15:38, 7 May 2007 (CEST)
